All visitors to Lackland Air Force Base over the age of 18 not in possession of a valid DOD identification card must have a Visitor Access Pass in their possession before gaining access to Lackland Air Force Base. Each visitor must have a pass issued in their name and a picture ID card in their possession while on Lackland. Each trainee must complete a Visitor Access Request Letter (VARL) for all anticipated guests. Once completed, these passes will be mailed home by the trainee. 

Visitor Access Pass

You should anticipate receiving your Visitor Access Pass around the end of the trainee’s fifth week of training. If you have not received your pass, contact your trainee via mail or during an authorized weekly telephone call to ensure your trainee has completed the VARL form and has mailed your Visitor Access Pass home for your visitation.

NOTE: Anyone without a valid military ID or Visitor Access Pass must stop by one of the Visitor Reception Centers (VRC) at either the Valley Hi or Luke East Gates to be sponsored onto the base by their Airman and obtain a visitor’s pass.

Valley Hi Gate: Open 6:00 am to 10:00 pm daily.

Luke East Gate: Open 24-hours daily. However, Airmen CANNOT go to the VRC on Thursday to sponsor someone onto the base and are subject to losing Base Liberty or Town Pass privileges if caught.
